Karen Bales received her Ph.D. in 2000 from the University of Maryland, College Park, and has been a faculty member at UC-Davis since 2004.  She is currently a Professor in the departments of Psychology and Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior.  She studies the behavioral neuroscience of pair bonding and parenting in socially monogamous species, primarily coppery titi monkeys and prairie voles.
