David Botstein, "A geneticist's view of cellular stress response at the system level"

Dr. David Botstein is the Chief Scentific Officer of Calico, a research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies to increase our understanding of the biology that controls lifespan. He served as the director of the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics at Princeton University from 2003-2013, where he is the Anthony B. Evnin Professor of Genomics, Emeritus.

Dr. Botstein has won the Eli Lilly and Company Award in Microbiology (1978), the Genetics Society of America Medal (1988), the Allan Award of the American Society of Human Genetics (1989), the Gruber Prize in Genetics (2003) and the Albany Medical Center Prize (2010). In 2013 he was awarded the $3 million Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences for his work.
