Jonas Cremer, "The collective dynamics in microbial communities - from swimming bacteria to the growth of the human gut microbiota"

Jonas Cremer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His research combines wet-lab and simulation approaches to investigate different levels of prokaryotic life, from the physiology of single bacteria cells, to their collective interactions in ecological settings. One current research focus is the physiological investigation of bacterial swimming behavior and its ecological role in the occupation of new habitats. Jonas is also interested in the growth dynamics of the human gut microbiota where he studies the interdependence between bacterial growth and human physiology, highlighting the importance of intestinal flow.
