Chinese leaders are using the research of biology Professor Gretchen Daily to establish a series of protected areas—the first of their kind—as part of the country's 21st-century ecological initiative. Daily’s research, recently publishedin Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, used eco-mapping software to identify places of high ecological importance for the country. Chinese leaders are using Daily’s analytics to establish a series of protected areas, the first of their kind, as a part of their 21st-century ecological initiative.
