**IMPORTANT CHANGES TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM**
 
Because of the exceptional circumstances relating to COVID-19, courses taken during Winter and Spring Quarters 2019-20 and any quarter in academic year 2020-2021 as CR/NC (or S/NC) will count towards the Biology major degree requirements and they will NOT impact the limited number of CR/NC units that are currently in place.
 

Undergraduate Program

Biology is a diverse and exciting field. Both as preparation for specific professional careers and as the focus of a general liberal arts curriculum, a major in Biology is an excellent choice for many Stanford students. The Biology major can serve as a stepping-stone for a wide variety of career opportunities, such as medical, dental, or veterinary school, or for a graduate program in the biological and applied sciences. It can also serve as a valuable and satisfying focus of a liberal arts education for those not planning careers in science-related fields.

Honors Program

The honors program allows students to complete a substantial piece of independent Biological research. Honors students may also pursue a specialized field of study within the major.

The Senior Reflection

Studying Away From Campus

Yes, you CAN spend a quarter off campus and graduate in 4 years. Many programs fulfill requirements in the Biology major.
