Ashby Morrison, "Chromatin-Regulated Genomic and Metabolic Stability"

Ashby Morrison is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology.  Research in the Morris Lab is focused on determining the contribution of chromatin to mechanisms that maintain genomic integrity and metabolic homeostasis in the context of disease and development.  Her lab utilizes a varied experimental approach that includes computational, biochemical, molecular and cellular assays in both yeast and mammalian systems to ascertain the contribution of chromatin remodelers and histone modifiers to carcinogen susceptibility and metabolic gene expression. They hope to contribute to the formulation of epigenetic therapies that treat genomic and metabolic dysfunction, which influence diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Morrison is the recipient of a Terman Award, a Kimmel Scholar Award and a prestigious MIRA grant from NIH.
